Parent Information
Medicines in school
It is St. Helens Local Authority policy, and therefore our school’s policy, to request that if a child is on medication (e.g. antibiotics) that parents administer the dosage.
Medicine prescribed by a doctor for 4 times per day can be given in school. If this is the case, then it is preferable for parents to come into school to administer the medicine. In this event, parents are requested to enter school (via the Birley Street entrance) and report to the school office. If this is not possible, a medical consent form must be completed, these are available from the School Office. Only medicine prescribed by a doctor is allowed in school. (Lockets, Tunes, Strepsils etc. are not to be sent into school).
School Attendance
If a child is unable to attend school for any reason, parents should notify the school in writing or by telephone before 9:00 on the first morning of the absence. In line with Government and Local Authority policy, holidays should be taken outside of term time and are only authorised in exceptional circumstances (applications for holiday leave must be submitted to the senior leadership team at least 4 weeks in advance).
School Trips
Each year children will visit places of interest to complement work in the curriculum. Parental permission is always sought and while school subsidises some of the cost, parents are asked to help with a voluntary contribution.
