Welcome
'The school’s values of faith, hope, love and trust inspire staff and pupils to the highest standards of behaviour. Pupils flourish academically and socially. St Peter’s is a superb school and a happy place to learn. Pupils’ behaviour and attitudes to learning are exemplary, whether adults are present or not.' Ofsted - January 2025
St Peter's is a very special place where we challenge all our children to be aspirational, supporting their hopes and dreams and guiding them as they search for their own pathways to success and fulfilment. We are a one form entry Church of England voluntary aided primary school, serving the parish of St. Peter’s Church and providing a Christian education for those who choose it. Founded in 1860, we have strong links with the Parish Church and the local community.
Built upon Christian values, our aim is to create for our amazing children a nurturing and inspirational learning community which encourages and supports them in the pursuit of their ambitions.
Our team of staff aim to help every child to face their individual challenges with courage and determination and to discover their unique talents and strengths. We are totally committed to removing barriers to learning and developing in each child a love of learning and a shared pride in achievement in all its forms.
In our school, we have high expectations of each other, recognise each person as an individual and celebrate the diversity of our community, treating everyone with respect. We are passionate about helping each child to become equipped with the skills and attributes they need to pursue their dreams and become lifelong learners and, of course, we know how important it is to have fun too!
I hope this website will give you a flavour of what St Peter's is about. You will see how our pupils have access to a wide range of extra curricular clubs, including sports, French, music, science, ECO Cluib, chess and STEM. You can learn about our unique St Peter's Award Scheme, and our dedication to pupil mental health, wellbeing and personal development. You can browse through our Courage Curriculum, look at our individual classes and learn about our work with parents through our parents forum. Our parent and pupil questionnaires give an insight to how satisfied and happy our school community is, especially with our pupil welfare, behaviour and safeguarding. Our School Performance Data is excellent, with higher than national average results in every area, including our end of year Year 6 SAT's in reading, writing and maths. Look out for our next open evening in Novembe 2025
