Rec/Year 1 2020 - 2021

Mrs Harrison

Mrs Harrison welcomes you to

Reception/Year 1

Class page!

" The child grew and became strong in body, mind and Spirit! "

I am so pleased with how well the Reception are settling in and the Year One children have returned and settled really well. They are making friends and I know we are going to have a fun and rewarding year.

Please look at our class newsletter to find out what we are learning about over the coming weeks.

  • We begin each day with Morning task for Reception and Year One. We will also have name cards to self register.
  • Please make sure you are on time and keep to the allocated drop offs. Further guidance will be sent for Reception soon, as they will eventually enter and leave by the main gate.
  • Our children have been grouped into Key Groups. Mrs Prashar has the ladybirds (Reception) and Mrs Harrison has the caterpillars (Year One). The key groups will meet for story, circle times and speaking and listening activities.

P.E lessons are on Wednesday's. Children can wear their PE kit to school on this day.

Children should bring a labelled water bottle to school each day. This should be cleaned and returned/filled each day.

A free fruit snack is available everyday; children are also welcome to bring their own healthy snack in from home.

If you need to speak to a member of staff, Mrs Harrison is on door duty most mornings and again after school. Mrs Prashar is also available. However, email to the class email is preferable.

We will be reading the story 'Bumble Bear' over the coming weeks. It is a story of friendship, fitting in, finding yourself and celebrating difference.

We are enjoying our JIGSAW PSHE time each week. Our jigsaw friend 'Jenie' helps us to be mindful and the chime bar keeps us calm and looks after our wellbeing. Look at the PSHE page to find out more! This half term we are looking at the recovery pack which focuses on returning to school, understanding the virus, rebuildng friendships, bereavement and more. There topics are especially fitting at the moment and will support our class sensitively.

Education City is a fantastic tool for home learning. We will set tasks for your child to consolidate their learning at home.

Below are some songs that will help your child with their learning at school. We will change them or add to them as we learn...

I hope your child is settling in well. Please come and see us if you have any issues or worries.

God Bless, Mrs Harrison.
