Rec/Year 1 2020 - 2021

Mrs Harrison

Mrs Harrison welcomes you to

Reception/Year 1

Class page!

" The child grew and became strong in body, mind and Spirit! "

                                                         Enjoy the Summer Term!

  • We begin each day with Morning task for Reception and Year One.
  • Please make sure you are on time and keep to the allocated drop offs.
  • Our children have been grouped into Key Groups. Mrs Prashar has the ladybirds (Reception) and Mrs Harrison has the caterpillars (Year One). The key groups will meet for story, circle times and speaking and listening activities. Reception also spend lots of time with Reception class and Mrs Bebbington, as well as spending time with Mrs Harrison too!

P.E lessons are on Wednesday's. Children must wear their PE kit to school on this day.

Children should bring a labelled water bottle to school each day. This should be cleaned and returned/filled each day. We have decided that, for the moment, children no longer need to bring their blue bags to school.

A free fruit snack is available everyday; children are also welcome to bring their own small, healthy snack in from home. This must not have nuts or chocolate.

If you need to speak to a member of staff, Mrs Harrison is on door duty most mornings and again after school. Mrs Prashar is also available. However, email to the class email is preferable.

Year One will be story writing over the coming week's. We will also be writing a newspaper article. In grammar, we are looking at word endings; es, s, ed, ing, est and the prefix 'un'. We will be reading a book called 'Grandad'd Secret Giant.'

Reception are reading ‘The Queen's Knickers' and ‘The Naughty Bus’ as we learn about  travel and transport. We will be learning about our new class and also doing lots of transition work too!,204,203,200_.jpg

We are enjoying our JIGSAW PSHE time each week. Our jigsaw friend 'Jenie' helps us to be mindful and the chime bar keeps us calm and looks after our wellbeing. Look at the PSHE page to find out more! This half term we are looking at 'Changing Me', and looking at how we are all different and special. We will look at self image, appropriate touch, friendship, transition and also in year one we will name our intinate body parts using the correct biological terms. Please see the PSHE page for more information.

Education City is a fantastic tool for home learning. Keep using it! Also, we have been enjoying Reading eggs. What level are you on?
